I’ve decided to begin documenting the progress my blog has made month by month, by way of accountability and also to look back on in the future! Here, I’ll include my statistics as well as some goals I have for the coming month.
While reading this, bear in mind that this is almost a brand new site! It’s around seven months old at this point – and I’ve not been too serious about posting consistently, researching keywords, focusing on SEO or any other traffic driving measures. It’s a passion project!

Why did I start this blog?
One thing I hear constantly as a student:
You never truly understand a topic, until you can teach it properly.
Since I’m leading a super busy life (I’m an undergraduate student with a school age child and a 1 year old!), I don’t have too much time to dedicate to teaching my degree subject to people who aren’t really interested to begin with. I decided to start publishing guides on math! I figure, anybody who stumbles onto my site to read my content, is probably looking for it. Hopefully somebody makes use of it!
The low down on my traffic
For all intents and purposes, I don’t try to drive traffic to my site. I’ve heard about lots of bloggers making six-figure incomes and honestly for me it’s just not written in the stars. As much as a colossal passive income appeals, I don’t have it in me to run a business. Because of this, most of my traffic is from Pinterest (where I post any diagrams I create for my blog posts) and search engines. Prepare to be amazed – it adds up to almost nothing!
For June 2024, the statistics are as follows:
- Google Search:
- Impressions: 2.17K
- Clicks: 2 (Wow!)

(Taken from google search console)
- Pinterest:
- Impressions: 1.34K
- Clicks: 7 (..also wow)

(Taken from Pinterest analytics, for anyone interested, visit my Pinterest here!)
- Other sources of traffic:
- Visitors: ~ 96
So the grand total of visitors to the site in June was 105. Previously, the highest month for visitors was May where the blog achieved 73.
Posts
In total, my blog has 35 published posts to date. In theory, math doesn’t go out of date, so they should all be relevant for the foreseeable future.
This month I’ve written and published 9 posts. Here they are:
- Learn All of High School Math: A Comprehensive Roadmap
- Algebra I Course Overview: Syllabus, Prerequisites and Tips
- Percentages: Conversions, Calculations, Mistakes to Avoid
- Mastering Basic Arithmetic
- Achieving Academic Success Amidst Work and Family: Actionable Productivity Strategies
- Understanding Basic Arithmetic: The Order of Operations
- Pre-Algebra Concepts: Factors and Multiples
- Pre-Algebra Concepts: Basic Number Properties
- Pre-Algebra Concepts: Simple Equations and Inequalities
I’ve been busy! The main reason I was able to put out so many posts this month was because in July, university semester has finished and my son is still in school. This leaves me an extra 2 hours per day where the toddler naps that I wouldn’t usually get! I expect that this will taper off during August as the school summer will be in full swing and I’ll be busy with the kids!
Additionally, another reason that there are so many posts this month is due to the nature of them. Prior to this month, I was putting out longer form guides to topics in Calculus or other post high school topics. I decided to backtrack a little bit, and spend my summer filling in some of the gaps in my blog by creating a full course on High School math!
Due to the topics being a little simpler than my prior content, the posts are a lot more short form as well as being less complex. That paired with more free time, meant more posting for the month.
Monetisation
Here’s the thing, I’ve read a lot of blog stats reports, and they all include a section on monetisation! This blog is not monetised, and even if it were the revenue would be nada! Having said that, the blog does have one expense! That is hosting, which costs £12 monthly.
For me, I am lucky enough to be in a position that this expense is negligible and completely acceptable as a cost of my hobby.
Moving forwards
For the month of August, it’s my plan to get my Algebra I course to around 50% completion. Currently it is about 10% completed, and Algebra 1 forms approximately a seventh of my intended course for High School math. I expect this project of mine to take several months to get to completion.
My tangible goal is 15 posts, each being a short guide on a topic from Algebra 1.
I’m yet undecided how much effort to put into Pinterest, while it is more promising for traffic than Google at present, I am trying to work out if it I consider it worth my time. For now I am keeping my strategy of posting diagrams that I would’ve created anyway!
For posts other than math content, such as this one, I may spend ten minutes creating a single pin.
Conclusion
My statistics show not too much activity! It’s my belief that many of the visitors were search engines indexing my posts, and I do think that only the organic clicks were actual visitors.
So for a total of 9 visitors this month, it’s safe to say that this blog won’t be taking off anytime soon.
